When the underwater hull is completely bare, Toine finds out that many of the valves in the hull penetration are no longer good. These were put in new in 2017. Does that happen so fast? Apparently, we have been suffering from galvanic current in our marina and that has affected some of the valves. The anodes were also completely gone for the first time after a year and then the next thing to be affected is the zinc in all the valves.
Toine goes to research and ends up with TruDesign brand valves. These are made of composite and therefore free of corrosion and electrolysis. That feels a lot more solid and is maintenance-free for the next 10 years.
