The improvements of 2023 are the Simpson davits and a new Highfield dinghy. We already bought the davits last year from HR parts, type S10 electric with remote control. All winter they are at Nova in the hall. In a beautiful week in spring, the feet are installed by two carpenters from Nova. They do that while we lie in our own box. Toine does the rest of the installation himself, including connecting the electricity 👍😎.
We are extremely happy with it. It is very easy to operate and it looks cool. I am sure we are going to get tremendous enjoyment out of this.
Well, but how do we get our current dinghy to fit properly under the davits? We stick new lifting eyes on it twice. That gets better, but it's not completely secure. Shall we go straight for a new dinghy with a hard bottom?
That decision was quickly made (in our way 😉 ) after Charley from Indian Summer could tell us exactly which dinghy we should buy. And so, a week later, a nice Highfield 310 (PVC with aluminum bottom) hangs just right on the davits. There is an enclosed hatch in the front where the fuel tank fits exactly with the pipe under the floor to the engine. The size is slightly smaller than the previous dinghy (3.10m instead of 325m). Better fitting for the two of us and also fine to use with four.
What a fantastic thing! It won't come off for the entire sailing season 😎. We'll also leave the dinghy's motor on it a lot, we expect. That will give us a lot of convenience and it looks cool too.
