This is the last part of the refit in Sweden this autumn. After 12 weeks of staying in Sweden it has come to an end. The house is cleared, the boat is cleared, ready to sail back to the Netherlands. Carl and Anna have been working hard for the last week and until the last moment today to get everything finished on time. Hats off! Very nice, because for the next few days, for the first time in two weeks, it will be quiet weather without strong winds from the south-west. A nice weatherhole just big enough to sail from here in one piece to Vlieland πβ΅οΈ.
It's two intensive weeks with a lot of events. A review of the past two weeks...
In the beginning of the first week we complete the bidding process on the house. It's sold! Still subject to architectural inspection and financing. We are very happy with that πππ.
In this first week there is little visible progress on the boat. Except for some finishing in the cabin of Marinthe by Carl. And the installation of electricity in the aft cabin and water supply and drainage for the washing machine by Christer. But appearances can be deceiving, because behind the scenes Carl is working hard to customize and paint all the parts for the Marinthe cabin and Toine's workplace.
It is beautiful autumn weather so I can make some short walks during the week in the beautiful autumn colors as a change of the working days π. They are at their best now. In the weekend we go to Marstrand on Saturday. What a hustle and bustle there on the ferry to the west side of town; we are not used to that anymore. We visit the fortress with a nice view over the town and the surrounding area and settle down for lunch in the only restaurant that is open in this low season. After lunch we take a brisk walk of over 2 hours through the woods and over rocks with a nice view of the surroundings of Marstrand. Again a good work-out, the most exhausting so far πͺ. On Sunday Toine stays inside and I take another walk on the island in front of our house before the storm and rain erupts the following days, and our stay here is coming to an end as well.
The second and so this past week there is tremendous visible progress on the boat. Carl and Anna are working every evening and also today (Saturday) until the last minute to get everything finished. On Tuesday RΓΆssy brings the bimini with the shades and Petterson the carpet and the benches, and in the evening Kjell completes the aft cabin. On Wednesday, Carl is busy with the finishing touches in Marinthe's cabin and Anna makes everything in the aft cabin neat and clean. On Thursday the SeaQuest goes into the water, Toine mounts the heating and the compass of the autopilot, Carl prepares the arrival of the washing machine and Anna goes around with her 'magic kit' to eliminate all spots and imperfections. On Friday the mast is put up and the washing machine is hoisted into the boat by crane. Toine helps with the assembly of all mast parts. Meanwhile Anna is busy cleaning the saloon. We clean up the house and bring all our stuff to the boat in the evening.
On Saturday (today) Carl starts early with cleaning the outside of the boat. We clean the last things in the house and lock it up. What a nice time we had here. The house is engraved in our memory because it looks very similar to what we would like to live in in the future after the period on the boat ππ. We bring the rental car back to the airport of Gothenburg and drive Anna's car back. Until well into the afternoon Carl and Anna are on board to lay and fix the carpets and assemble the gas springs. We set the sails, Toine repairs the gas button and we clean up the boat. Finally, we make the old mattresses to measure for temporary use in the new beds. The refit is ready πππΎπ₯ππ.
