On Saturday the 24th of May we will participate in the Hallberg Rassy tour 2017, with 38 other HR boats in different sizes. We will start at Nova with coffee and tea and then we will all get a white HR tour polo. Then we leave at 10.00 am from Bruinisse to the lunch stop in Port Zelande. Especially against the light north-west wind.
Not so handy for our boat, such a crossrak with little wind. Then we have to roll the genoa in and out again every time we change tack.
We start at the front and due to the loss of speed at each tack we are eventually overtaken by many boats. On the way we are photographed by Klaas Wiersema from the helicopter.
At lunch we lie down next to the Indian Summer and the Bruiser. Marinthe makes a nice picture from the mast.
The way back is a lot better for us. Sailing in front of the wind and clover for a large part of the time. Now we participate in the front of the field. The fastest boat is of course Nova's new HR 44. It is a beautiful sight all those HR boats on the water with nice sunny weather.
Once back in the harbour, the day ends with a drink and a delicious buffet in the hall near Nova. Very nice to get acquainted with various crews.
The Indian Summer receives a book from HR because of the most beautiful picture that was sent to HR. See below. That is also a beautiful picture, made by Jolanda van de No Doubt.
It is a very successful event that can be repeated!
