From Wednesday morning until Friday afternoon we will be on the shore at Van Ast in Brouwershaven for the big spring cleaning. We can just live on the boat, accessible with a ladder π.
Of course we've been to the site many times before, but now it's our entire house hanging there in the tires of the crane π. As always the team of Van Ast handles this very controlled and professional π.
On Wednesday, Van Ast sands the underwater hull and applies the antifouling. We then work inside. In the afternoon and evening on Wednesday and Thursday, and all through Friday, we polish the white exterior and the blue band. First we polish with a machine and then we rub the surface with a cloth (this is heavy work and Toine takes care of that). Then we apply a layer of wax and rub it out well (I do that). On Friday we also take care of the white top. Toine always sails the boat from Bruinisse to Brouw and back and I go by car. This time I sailed back. For the first time all by myself, how cool that feels πͺ βΊοΈ.
After many hours of hard work, the SeaQuest is shining again and we have very tired bodies and muscles. Time to rest this weekend π . Our new Ultra anchor Has also arrived and is shining on the bow along with the rest of the boat. We can be seen in the harbor again among the other winter polished boats ππ.
