We are early this year. On Valentine's Day in the spring holidays the weather is nice and sunny and we go to the boat for two days and one night. On Friday night, Feb 13, we are almost the only ones eating at the Sailors Inn. A cozy atmosphere with the fireplace on. On Valentine's Day we sail to our favourite anchorage near the Brouwersdam. Still without sails and no running water, because the SeaQuest is still in its winter mode.
But that should not spoil the fun. With bottled water we can also manage with a bit of frugality.
We walk along the beach and enjoy ourselves on the boat. In the evening we put on the heating and we watch the movie Hugo (tipped off by Mieke).
A couple of weeks later we are back for two days and one night in the Easter weekend between all the girls' sports commitments. This time with running water and a beautiful new mainsail. That sails fantastic ... that is a big difference with the 'saggy' sail that was already 8 years old. On Saturday we sail to the end of the Grevelingen with a nice wind to our favourite anchorage.
Easter Sunday there is not much wind and we spend most of our time cleaning the outside ... the teak deck and the white parts get a good treatment.
The third early spring experience is today on King's Day. After hockey and tennis matches, now Toine and me with the Friday night tennis competition, we drive to the boat on Sunday afternoon. In less than an hour we sail to the south of Stampersplaat and drop anchor. In the evening we watch a nice movie ... via Netflix and a good Wifi connection from the highest saloon of the SeaQuest with a campsite behind the dike. Technology stands for nothing! The last song, well chosen by Eline.
Today, on Queen's Day, we have a wonderful sailing trip, a round trip around Grevelingen, in the sunshine with wind force 4-5 from the north. Exactly the right wind direction for sailing the entire Grevelingen round without tacking.
At the end of the afternoon we drive back to Tilburg. We have been at the SeaQuest for less than 24 hours but it feels like three days.
