We left on the 19th of July and the rush hour is off! Waved out by family and friends. With the necessary tears. After 6 hours of sailing on the engine (the boat is not yet well equipped for slanting) with wind force 7 and gusts of force 8 and even 9, and a strong tide on the Oosterschelde, we arrive in Veere via the shelter of the Veerse Meer. A good place to relax for a while. The weather is not so good to make a big trip to the south.
Saying goodbye is a beautiful and intense experience. Not that we already have the idea that we will stay away for more than a few weeks of summer holidays. Except for a vague feeling that this time it's something else after all. We stay in Veere for a day and use that day to decorate the boat. We also watch Harry Potter 2 together with the children. We meet the Tangaroa crew - they are fellow migrants. Small world.
The next day we leave for Vlissingen. But there we quickly ran away from the funfair which is right next to the marina and ended up in Breskens. For the coming time we try to make as many miles to the south as possible as soon as the weather permits.
Ha Toine, Mira and kids, you're not gone until you're really gone. That feeling is likely to get stronger in the next days/weeks. So it was pretty heavy weather that first day, good start!
Good luck the next piece.
Antonita and Henk.
Hey, Mira and mates. A little further and further... And fleeing from the fair I recognize. In Tilburg it's going on now. Is it finally blowing a bit, you go on the bike. Good luck and looking forward to the next step. Greetings. Carry and Rob and kids.
Hi Toine, Mira and kids,
I just got back from a long weekend in Drenthe with my two children, Lobke and Ravian. This year 2x 1 week holiday, so I enjoy being together with them. And then I come home and see your message. Awesome! The journey, your dream, is really starting to come true. In my mind I am regularly with you and wish you all the best during your trip over the big waters. Together with my children, we will gauge you regularly and follow your reports. Lots of love and good trip, Fulco, Lobke and Ravian
Toine, Mira, Eline and Marinthe: finally left, the anchor lifted, on to the great adventure and an impressive experience. Exciting. We wish you all the best, a safe trip and above all enjoy it. We will continue to follow you.
Eline and Marinthe: hopefully you will catch a lot of fish, see beautiful dolphins and maybe even whales. They are super big!
Greetings from Rinus and Marjanne
