We spend 4 days in the beautiful anchor bay of Arichat in the north-eastern part of Nova Scotia. It is a sheltered bay for all wind directions and that is what we need during the day/night that a big front passes by. We are all alone there with lots of nature around us and a village at a distance. We stay here because this is a good sheltered spot for that front. And also because we have seen that from tomorrow there will be a good weather window to sail to the Azores. So there is no reason to continue and we decide to wait here until the front is over and we can leave for the Azores.
The first two days it's very quiet weather and we use the dinghy to visit the village and explore the bay. There is no wifi access from the boat to the disappointment of Marinthe 😢, but fortunately not for long. The sun is shining abundantly and from the wind under the cockpit it is lovely to sit. The last two days we spend on the boat a bit further in the bay away from the village with the dinghy already stored in the coffin and especially inside because of the cold. It looks like we have already 'left' and the trip to the Azores is 11 days instead of about 9 days 😉. We have a great time during the day with each our own thing. Toine as always with chores and me with cleaning, reading and updating website HRC. The girls with reading, drawing, crossword puzzles and some schoolwork. The evenings are nice family moments during dinner, listening to music and watching movies together.
The evening / night / morning that the front pulls the wind is strong and we are swaying behind our anchor. But the SeaQuest doesn't shrink and stays neat and tidy without any problems. The small lighthouse with the red light is a familiar sight.
So tomorrow we leave for the Azores. The weather looks fine. Good wind and no annoying fronts on the route, at least according to the forecast 😉.
We will post a short message every day during the crossing.
